Pembroke Blacksmithing Workshop - Pembroke, ON

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the E-ON / NCR Pembroke Blacksmithing Workshop on 4 or 5 November 2026 is now open. The application deadline is 18 October.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT:

Soldier On, will host an Introduction to Blacksmithing event at Forged in Canada, Pembroke ON on 4 & 5 November 2026.  The event will see selected participants from the E-ON and NCR regions each enjoy 1-day of blacksmithing on either 4 November or 5 November at the forge. This basic introduction to blacksmithing workshop offers participants an opportunity to gain an appreciation and understanding of basic blacksmithing skills through a hands on course, learning and developing the basic blacksmith techniques of drawing out, upsetting, splitting, spreading, punching and  bending.  Selected participants will each enjoy 1-day on either 4 November or 5 November at the forge.

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 16. (8 each day)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the Eastern ON Region and the National Capital Region within a reasonable drive to Pembroke who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: 4 & 5 November (Each day.)
0900 – Welcome briefing and introductions;
0910 – Blacksmithing begins;
1200 – Lunch
1230 - Blacksmithing continues.
1600 - Wrap Up.

TRANSPORTATION & MEALS:
Participants are advised that transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location, travel is not eligible for reimbursement for this event.  A group lunch will be provided.
